Czech Republic: Leo Express eyes regional routes

12/06/2012

Private rail operator Leo Express wants to participate in tenders to run trains on state-subsidized regional routes, owner Leoš Novotný declared. Leo Express is now analysing the situation as it will not compete in tenders for routes that do not have “market justification,” Novotný said, adding that some lines run purely for historical reasons. The company will start to operate on long-distance unsubsidised routes between Prague and Ostrava, and Bohumín and towns in north Moravia in December.
