Belarus: Railways and customs collaborate to speed up customs procedures

Preliminary notification of the customs service about the commodity import to the Customs Union by rail will be voluntary, chief for customs controls of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Vladimir Orlovsky said.
The customs service of Belarus and Belarus Railways have established a mutually beneficial cooperation:  preliminary notification will speed up the process, because a transit declaration will be prepared beforehand and the commodity will pass the customs controls faster.
The customs service has been working on it together with Belarus Railways for a year already; a cooperation scheme has been developed. The trial preliminary notifications have already been submitted.
A mandatory preliminary notification is applied to goods imported to the Customs Union by road.
