Sale of PKP Intercity postponed

The privatisation of PKP Intercity, the Polish passenger railway operator, will not take place within the next few years, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna newspaper said quoting Andrzej Massel, the deputy minister of transport.  The company has to improve its financial results first.
The Polish Government has not put on hold the preparations for the privatisation of PKP Cargo. The government seeks to sell 50%+ one share in PKP Cargo to a strategic investor.
According to unofficial sources, the potential bidders for PKP Intercity include Ceske Drahy, SNCF, three investment funds and RZD.
According to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, which did not quote any sources directly, the privatisation of PKP Cargo could take place in 2013, and that of PKP Intercity two years later.
