In addition to the income, it can also create 7,300 job opportunities and save 1.5 trillion rials (some $122 million) in fuel consumption annually, IRNA News Agency reported. Iran will build and commission some 1,000 kilometers length of railroad in the current Iranian year, which ends on March 20, 2013, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Ahmad Sadeqi said. Sadeqi added that the total length of the national railroad network will reach around 11,000 kilometers. Sadeqi added that by the next two years the country’s all provinces will be connected together through the railroad network.
Iranian Railways managing director Abdolali Saheb-Mohammadi said that the national railroad network of Iran is now linked with Syrian and Turkish networks and is also connected with Turkmenistan via Sarakhs.
